The People’s Assembly: Setting the Stage for Climate Justice
- Date: 04 December - 05 December
- label.tijd 8:30
- Location: T.M.C. Asser Institute
From December 3-5, join us at the T.M.C. Asser Institute in The Hague for the People’s Assembly, a first-of-its-kind global gathering amplifying frontline voices during a pivotal moment for climate justice. As the International Court of Justice (ICJ) conducts oral hearings on its climate Advisory Opinion (ICJAO), the world’s attention is on how international law can address the climate crisis.
The People’s Assembly is here to complement these hearings, offering a platform for those most affected by climate change to share their experiences, influence the Advisory Opinion, and demand justice.
This event also serves as a sneak peek into what’s to come from the Future Generations Tribunal. Our regional assemblies will continue this work, gathering testimony and pushing for innovative legal frameworks to protect the rights of future generations. The People’s Assembly is our first campaign in a broader movement for justice.

The ICJAO oral hearings are a once-in-a-generation opportunity to shape the future of international climate law. The People’s Assembly ensures that the voices of frontline communities are central to this process, demonstrating the power of public participation and solidarity. Join us in making history and securing justice for future generations
