Justice & Peace is a human rights organisation based in The Hague, dedicated to defending and encouraging respect for human rights and social justice worldwide and in the Netherlands.

We have a practical approach, which we can always adapt to the needs of a changing world. Thanks to our 50 years of experience, we know that the most effective way to achieve our vision and mission is to support the actions of local change makers. Change makers are the grassroots people and organisations dedicated to bringing concrete and positive change to their communities. Whether they are human rights defenders, activists, journalists, artists, bloggers, lawyers or policy officials, or whether they are volunteers, language teachers, students or company directors. By bringing these people and organisations together and giving them the means, resources and (international) contacts to achieve their goals, we contribute to the promotion of human rights worldwide.

Through our initiatives such as Samen Hier, but also through our lobbying, we actively work for the safe entry of refugees into Europe. Together with the growing Samen Hier community we work on the promotion and development of local safe havens where newcomers can start their new lives more easily. With the growing global Shelter City network, we offer crucial support to human rights defenders, journalists, and artists at risk, so that they can continue their work safely and effectively in the long term. Through temporary relocation, we provide them with inspiring safe spaces where they can rest, re-energize, engage with allies and develop their skills, knowledge and resilience. In addition to our projects, Justice & Peace promotes engagement with human rights by raising awareness through events, publications, petitions and education.
