Just Peace Open Day: Walkingtour

  • Date: 22 September
  • Location: The Hague, multiple locations

Join us for a walking tour on Just Peace Open Day! Explore The Hague through the lens of international peace and justice and find out what organisations house in the buildings you come across every day.

Justice and International Law

Discover The Hague's International Zone, the area home to hundreds of international law & justice organisations such as the International Court of Justice, Europol, the International Criminal Court and the Permanent Court of Arbitration. But this area has a rich history. During World War II, the Atlantic Wall, a huge defense line, was built right through The Hague. Now it is precisely a place where many organizations work daily to make the world a peaceful, just and safe place. From war to peace.

The tour leads you through the area around the World Forum and past several famous international organisations. Although the organisations themselves are not visited, you will get an explanation of the work of the organisations and the architecture of the buildings in which they are located.

This tour starts at Museon Omniversum entrance (37 Stadhouderslaan) and ends in front of the Peace Palace (Carnegieplein 2).

Reserve your spot here.

The tour will be given two times on September 22. The first one will be in English (10:30 - 12:30) and the second one will be in Dutch (13:30 - 15:30). Make sure to book your preferred time slot.

Human Rights and Democracy

Defending human rights and democracy is a core part of many organizations in The Hague. This tour will take you through the center of The Hague and walk/tell the stories of organizations that stand up for human rights worldwide. Immerse yourself in stories and information about the democratic rule of law. This tour passes art, statues, and, for example, the statue of William of Orange, one of the founders of modern Dutch democracy.

With this tour you will visit:

The Humanity Hub, OSCE, Malieveld, ICMP, Raad van State, Ruiterstandbeeld, Paleis noordeinde, Justice and Peace, NHC, NIMD, and Prodemos.

This tour starts at The Hague Humanity Hub (Fluwelen Burgwal 58) and ends in front of Prodemos (Hofweg 1).
