Screening of The Devil's Driver including a discussion afterwards

  • Date: 12 December 18:45 - 21:00
  • Location: Filmhuis Den Haag

Pursued by the military, a human smuggler crosses the border daily. An intimate but harrowing portrait - filmed over a period of eight years - of a man with a precarious existence in one of the most dangerous regions of the world.

In the area south of Hebron, in a vast and beautiful landscape, live indigenous Bedouins. In their midst, Israeli settlers have built walled villages on the hills, cutting the people off from their land and water supply. Worn out after years of conflict, the Bedouins seek work in construction in Israel, but the government sees them as a security risk. Only men who are married and have at least one child are granted work permits.

Including Discussion Afterwards

The film will be followed by a discussion with directors Daniel Carsenty and Mohammed Abugeth. The discussion leader is an award-winning director and writer, Shariff Nasr (including El Houb, Little Stars of Bethlehem and F*ck Love).
