Colonial Traces: poetry workshop and city walk
- Date: 15 June
- label.tijd 13:30 - 16:30
- Location: Centrale Bibliotheek | Dok B (4e verdieping)
Experience the power of poetry and discover the hidden colonial traces in The Hague during the workshop “Colonial Traces” by spoken word artist Nicchelle Buyne.
During a city walk you will learn about the colonial past echoing through the streets of The Hague. Get to know this history and broaden your perspective as we explore the connections between colonial rule and the Hofstad.
We collectively reflect on this painful heritage through a poetry workshop. Using language, we create space to express our ideas and feelings. You do not need to have previous experience with poetry to participate; the workshop is open to beginners. Join us for this interactive experience, and don't forget to wear comfortable shoes!
Practical Information
This event takes place on Saturday, June 15 and runs from 1:30 to 4:30 pm. We will start at the Central Library The Hague and then take a walk through the city center. We will return to the library to conclude our session. Participation is free, but due to limited space we ask you to make reservations via the link below. The maximum number of participants is 15.
Accessibility notes: The walk takes about 40 minutes. You will pass several locations in the city center, some of which have limited access due to road works and uneven tiles (and cobblestones). Noise is limited in the library, but the streets of The Hague can be quite noisy. Keep this in mind if you are sensitive to stimuli.
