Binnenhoflezing 2024 door Frans Timmermans

The Binnenhoflezing 2024 will be held by the party leader of GroenLinks-PvdA, Frans Timmermans. After the summer recess, the lecture aims to be a clarion call leading up to Budget Day. This fourth Binnenhoflezing will take place on Wednesday, September 4 at 4 p.m. in press center Nieuwspoort and can also be followed via a livestream.

Cabinet-Schoof

On July 2, the Schoof Cabinet stepped onto the balcony. The most right-wing cabinet in times; called "extra-parliamentary" by the participating parties. A cabinet, moreover, with a party-less prime minister. A cabinet that wants to give a voice to discontent by 'banging its fist on the table' in Brussels.

What story does Frans Timmermans (GroenLinks-PvdA) put forward to counter this? Will the left-wing collaboration come up with a beckoning alternative?

Homage

The Binnenhof Lecture reflects deeply on the parliamentary year behind it. From that reflection, the lecture derives insights for the time ahead. With the Binnenhof Lecture, the foundation also pays modest homage to this centuries-old center of government. Currently, its large-scale renovation and renewal is in full swing.

Prof. Jouke de Vries, chairman of the Executive Board of the University of Groningen, delivered the first Binnenhoflezing in 2021 and mr. Chris van Dam, now chairman of the Dutch Safety Board, delivered the second in 2022. The Binnenhoflezing 2023 was held by Member of Parliament Pieter Omtzigt.
