'Music can do anything. The Residentie Orkest wants all residents of The Hague to experience what music can do with you. The orchestra is always looking for the relevance of music and how we relate to the world and each other. Music connects, teaches listening and gives color to life'.

Sven Arne Tepl, General and Artistic Director

Symphony 2030 is the title of the social pillar of the Residentie Orkest and stems from the ambition to be relevant and meaningful to all inhabitants of the city, from all layers of society. With projects such as RO in the neighborhood, the City Orchestra The Residents and customized and thematic projects with social partners, we want to inspire and connect residents of The Hague. We use the power of music to facilitate encounters and mutual involvement, to highlight certain themes and to build bridges.

We bring people from diverse backgrounds together and give everyone the chance to enjoy classical sounds. We offer children growing up in poverty the opportunity to express themselves musically. And we give social themes a stage through projects.

The Hague is a city with great challenges of polarization, opportunity inequality and poverty. It is also a city of great cultural and artistic richness. We believe in the power of music as an instrument to realize positive change and thus we put themes such as discrimination, opportunity inequality, poverty and climate change on the agenda through music. Music surprises, connects and amazes.

Together with residents and partners, we initiate positive change. We have invested and continue to invest in this by working from co-creation. We have learned that if you don't come with a ready-made idea, but rather with a question or wish and a listening ear to what is going on in the districts of The Hague, you can work together towards a shared valuable and innovative concept.

In 2023, we have achieved with Symphony 2030:

65 activities 7260 people in all districts of The Hague

517 'social seats' at concerts in Amare and Paard

7777 residents of The Hague region in total

RO in the neighborhood

For those residents of The Hague who cannot come to our concerts in Amare - either because they are unable to, or because they have never come into contact with classical music before - we make it easy: our musicians come to them! With free neighborhood concerts, large and small, we want to connect local residents and let them enjoy the power of music. See here a short film about RO In de wijk.
