Human Rights in the Picture was born in The Hague on 15 May 2013, out of a desire to engage with a wide audience on human rights issues. The world looks very different today than it did in 2013, but the core work of human rights advocacy remains the same and never ends.

At Human Rights in the Picture, we use visual stories to advocate for human rights. We create documentaries, photo exhibitions and educational materials. We use this art to reach out to people, raise awareness, advocate for change and make a lasting impact. Our camera lens shines a light on violations so that they do not go unnoticed.

We invest in the younger generation through a mentoring programme and by supporting activists, artists and artivists in need. The reality is that we learn a lot from each other, and working together makes us all stronger.
