Wish it, Dream it, Act on it: 3 Perspectives on Human Rights

Initiatives of Change will host a symposium celebrating "The Hague 125 Years as a City of Peace and Justice." The aim is the enhance citizens’ understanding of peacebuilding.

We aim to share our passion for human rights and inspire others to foster a tangible culture of human rights. Serving as a platform for networking and exchanging ideas, the symposium encourages collaboration towards a more just world.

Our speakers include:

- Jan-Paul Heering, a lawyer at the Supreme Court (BarentsKrans, Lange Voorhout), who will discuss Hugo Grotius as The Hague's founding figure of international law

- Benjamin Duerr, a German-Dutch diplomat at the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations (BZK), who will speak about his book "The Dream of The Hague: The Hague Peace Conferences and the Emergence of a New World Order" (2024) and the historical impact of The Hague on world peace

- Mert Kumru or another representative of the World's Youth for Climate Justice, who will share their experiences with activism and lobbying at the International Court of Justice in the Peace Palace and the role of youth in climate justice.
