Flee Dance Live with Ditteke Mensink
- Date: 06 February
- Location: Filmhuis The Hague
On the 24th of February, 2022, Russia invaded Ukraine. Millions of people fled. In the Royal Conservatory of The Hague, professional Ukrainian dancers were given shelter. Since then, they have formed the United Ukrainian Ballet. The dancers live in old classrooms, workrooms, and practice rooms. Everything in the film takes place within the walls of the Conservatory in The Hague and behind every door hides a story.
Director and Golden Calf winner Ditteke Mensink followed the young dancers for months with producer Interakt Productions in cooperation with NTR. Their stories about fleeing to the Netherlands and living as refugees form the common red thread through this film.
Flee Dance Live provides an intimate and emotional insight into the lives of these young dancers who, next to a big dose of talent, are full with fresh sadness - but also have hopeful thoughts that empower them to continue dancing.
Flee Dance Live is in Dutch and screening from now through February 6th at the Filmhuis The Hague.
