  • Date: 04 May

  • Location: Nationaal Monument Oranjehotel

Open Jewish Houses | Houses of Resistance is an annual program of speaking commemorations. This afternoon at the Oranjehotel, Jewish prisoners who were incarcerated here will be remembered.

Thursday, May 4, 1:00 - 1:45 p.m.: Michel Koppe is a survivor of Jewish merchant/kelner Juda Turfrijer (The Hague, 1900 - Mauthausen, 1942). Koppe spent years delving into the family history and had a stolper stone placed. Like many residents in the former Jewish neighborhood in the center of The Hague, it was a struggle for Juda Turfrijer to make ends meet.

Thursday, May 4, 3:00 - 3:45 p.m.: Ronald Klomp of Stichting WO2 Sporen talks about the Jewish victims found after the occupation during the excavations on the Waalsdorpervlakte. The Foundation WO2 Sporen was involved in several identifications and owns a very extensive database with names and addresses of victims and documents from national and international archives.
