On the spot: Babs Gons

  • Date: 30 January
  • label.tijd 19:30 - 21:00
  • Location: KB, Club Erasmus

On the occasion of the opening of Poetry Week on 30 January, the KB is placing poet laureate Babs Gons On the Spot. In an open conversation, she shares her vision of her oeuvre, her sources of inspiration and the role of art in the social debate.

This year, Poetry Week is all about Physicality. Babs Gons focuses on the body this evening. In a society that constantly imposes rules, standards and expectations, it is important to reflect on the question: whose body is this? The evening will also be about the vulnerability and strength of our body and the beauty of change.

Babs Gons will be joined this evening by Elte Rach, author of A Woman with Beautiful Breasts, to discuss the role of illness in literature. The evening will be concluded by spoken word artist Asmae Amaddaou.

An evening of deepening, poetry and conversation, in which we get to know Babs Gons better and reflect together on the meaning of physicality in our time.

On the spot

Every month, the KB organizes an inspiring, stimulating and sometimes disruptive meeting during On the spot, with a special person as the center. We invite someone who is in the spotlight around a current issue. With expertise and experience, the guest takes us into a candid conversation about sources of inspiration, vision and insights that touch the core of current affairs.
