International Holocaust Remembrance Day Lecture

  • Date: 29 January 15:45
  • Location: Vredespaleis: Academiegebouw

The horrors of the Holocaust were a turning point in history that prompted the world to say, "Never again."

On Nov. 1, 2005, the United Nations General Assembly designated Jan. 27 as International Holocaust Remembrance Day in Resolution 60/7. The first IHRD commemoration took place in 2006, and since then, ceremonies have been held each year at the United Nations offices in New York and Geneva and in many cities around the world. The Hague is often called the world capital of international law and the city of peace and justice, so it was deemed appropriate to add the city to the list of places where IHRD is commemorated annually.
