Home in the Hague

  • Date: 10 July 12:00 - 17:00
  • Location: Bibliotheek Loosduinen

What is the common thread of the Hague home feeling? Home feeling is for one person his grandmother's Roti and for another warm socks. 1500 Hagenaars will be asked to embroider their feeling of home starting in May 2023, contributing to the participatory art project Thuis in Den Haag.

At Home in The Hague

Why do you feel at home somewhere or not (anymore)? As a newcomer or expat, what do you do when you have to rebuild a new home somewhere? The project At Home In The Hague aims to talk with each other about how you feel at home. In a year's time, this should result in 1500 embroidered patches about feeling at home. The embroideries - all in red thread on a white patch - will come on a little house. In one year, that will visit all parts of the city. In the spring of 2025 the little house will arrive at the Central Library, where an event will be organized around the Feeling at Home.

Haags Verhaal

Haags Verhaal is organizing this project which was inspired by the art project Heimat by Swiss artist Kathrin Stalder, who went all over the world with it. She wanted to know what makes people from different cultures and in different life situations feel at home, safe and accepted. Het Haags Verhaal - which connects people and communities based on stories and photographs - asked the artist if they could create a Hague version of her artwork.
