Artwork ''The creative force'' and photography by Sona Sahakian

In a world in turmoil, where humanity and nature are in disarray, many individuals seek stability and security. Due to personal circumstances, natural disasters, or the ravages of war, numerous people are compelled—often abruptly—to abandon everything familiar and comforting, plunging into a completely unknown and frequently inhospitable environment. They become displaced.

This theme of losing one’s home, language, recognition, safety, and shelter, as well as the loss of perspective and trust in others, has been the central focus of Suus Zweekhorst’s drawings and paintings in recent years. As a curator, she now aims to present this subject alongside other artists in the Albert Vogelzaal of the Haagse Kunstkring. Following a call to the members of the association, she invited eight visual artists and various poets, theater makers, actors, and musicians to share their experiences and perspectives on the theme. This has resulted in a beautiful and diverse collaborative project.
