Just before Christmas, Matthias quits his job in Germany to return to his childhood village in Transylvania. He wants to focus more on raising his son Rudi and longs to see his ex-lover Csilla again. Once he arrives home, the peace of the community appears to be violently disrupted by the arrival of foreign workers. Underlying fears, frustrations and conflicts soon manage to burst through the thin veneer of apparent calm in the village.

'Wonderfully directed by Mungiu' ★★★★★ - VPRO Cinema
