Feminist Perspectives on Water Conflict and Cooperation

  • Date: 03 November 17:00 - 19:00
  • Location: The Hague Humanity Hub

In light of water crises and lacking or unequal access to water, research and policy strategies have put attention to questions of gender and inclusivity in the water sector.

However, these tend to focus on women as water users and thus on the domestic and local spheres. The role of women as decision-makers, let alone at the international level, remains neglected.

Given the recent commitment by the Dutch government to a feminist foreign policy, this event combines the launch of a new book on gender dynamics in transboundary water governance with a panel debate to discuss what can we learn from a feminist perspective on water conflict and cooperation, and how a feminist (water) diplomacy can contribute to more equitable transboundary water governance.
