The Hague, international city of peace and justice
The Hague is regularly in the world news due to the international lawsuits of, for example, the International Court of Justice and the International Criminal Court. But more is happening.
The Hague’s special status as a city of peace and justice attracts many government leaders, international organizations, knowledge institutions, social organizations, companies and students. Here they work together, share their knowledge and develop new ideas to solve global problems.
200 intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations are located in The Hague. Think of the International Court of Justice, the International Criminal Court, Eurojust, Europol and the OPCW. NGOs such as Unicef and Oxfam Novib and almost all foreign embassies and consulates are also located in The Hague. International organizations, knowledge centers and companies like to work together, because that yields new knowledge and innovative products. Most international organizations are located in the International Zone. A number of embassies are also located here.
